The 8th L&D talk which we hosted on Wednesday 25th September was a “tech-driven” L&D Talk about New Skills and Reskilling for technical jobs, supported by Science 2 Business.
In that L&D Talk Vasiliki Kanellopoulou, Grigorios Matenoglou, Ph.D. and Dr Jenny Leivadarou shared their valuable insights on how technical jobs have been transformed and which are the effective L&D practices to help people build the required skills.
A big thank you to our panelists for contributing with their hands-on experience in the Talk:
🗨️ Vasiliki Kanellopoulou, Recruiter at Alumil
🗨️ Dr Jenny Leivadarou, Business Advisor at the Teaching Factory Competence Center
🗨️ Grigorios Matenoglou, Ph.D., Research & Innovation Manager at the I4byDesign I Competence Center
We had the exceptional experience to coordinate a discussion which combined insights from an HR Professional, Vasiliki and 2 executive officers from Competence Centres Dr Jenny and Grigorios, whose role is to support companies in their technological transformation.
It was a discussion about the new world of work which has been emerging for technical jobs.
Among others, we highlighted:
💡 How technology has been transforming manufacturing and business operations
💡 The radical changes in tasks and responsibilities, changing the required skillset for technical jobs
💡 Data management responsibilities for specific technical jobs
💡 Soft skills required for specific technical jobs & the need to help people in technical jobs develop their soft skills
💡 The economics of reskilling (vs new hirings) and the challenges of skills gaps
💡 The need to embrace collaboration & collaboration skills for new job profiles in technical jobs
💡 Effective ways of learning and development for people in technical jobs about new technologies, providing hands-on experience of the technology applications
💡 The use of AR, VR and other emerging technologies for engaging learning experiences
💡 The need for self-paced learning & effective mentoring schemes to help people learn on the job
💡 The core role of an embracing work culture, demonstrating to people that the organization supports them at all levels and every step
It was a hybrid discussion where our panelists were connected online and our L&D Studio community members participated both online and on-site. It was coordinated by our own Faye Orfanou. We were hosted at our offices at Spaces Ermou.
We post the pictures of our panelists together with a Gen-AI illustration representing how it felt to participate in that talk. Following the “tradition” established in the previous hybrid L&D Talk - and as the hybrid events don’t produce attractive pictures-, we have asked DALL-E to represent the setting as we would have liked it to be.
