On Tuesday 28th May 2024, we had the pleasure of hosting another insightful AELIA L&D Talk, the 4th, this time at Spaces, the co-working space that hosts AELIA.
This session, entitled "Investing in L&D," was all about the value the L&D activities offer to an organisation and to its people, their impact and the potential return of "Investing in L&D." Among others we discussed about:
🔲 The usual organisational or people challenges which require investing time and resources for L&D activities, such as (a) keeping people updated in core hard skills, particularly in the tech sector, (b) reskilling as part of a business transformation, particularly in digitally transformed sectors such as banking & finance, (c) succession preparedness for growing organisations, (d) onboarding, (e) leadership empowerment for managers.
🔲 L&D as part of the employee value proposition and/or as an employee benefit.
🔲 Establishing and justifying the L&D budget in diverse circumstances and organisations.
🔲 Evaluating the impact of L&D on organisational & business performance.
🔲 Assessing the ROI of L&D activities for an organisation.
A big thank you to our panelists for sharing their insights and experiences:
Areti Mystiroudi, Head of People Business Partnering at Kpler
Maria Agelada, HR Manager at DIAS
Elina Tsadari, Chief Financial Officer at Welcome Pickups
Lenia Anastasopoulou, Co-founder & COO at FindYourCoach
The discussion was facilitated by our very own Faye Orfanou and thanks to the diverse composition of the panel, we had the opportunity to explore both the HR and financial aspects of investment in L&D.
The key takeaways will be compiled into our respective L&D-Insights-Paper, which will be shared with our L&D Studio community.
