Reflecting on our 10th L&D Talk, where we had the pleasure of hosting EDIHAUS at the hospitable premises of Orange Grove.
Α big thank you to everyone who joined this beyond-buzzwords conversation on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) and its connection to ESG.
This wasn’t just a talk about values; Starting from the S and the G in the ESG, it was a dive into how L&D can become a lever for inclusion, and how DEI, when applied with intention and structure, supports both people and performance.
Here are some of the key reflections we shared and heard:
✨Diversity goes beyond race, age, religion, and sexual orientation. It extends to (a) the differences in personalities, their particularities, even the types of L&D Personas (the way they learn, the way they perceive their careers) as well as (b) the different phases of a person’s life which may affect their current state of mind or behavior (like a person in burnout, or a person who is caregiving). Our people development offerings must reflect this whole spectrum of diversity.
✨Science-based DEI matters. It’s not about checklists; it’s about tools and practices grounded in research that help organisations build fairer, more inclusive structures, with ripple effects that extend beyond the workplace.
✨Equity ≠ Equality. True fairness requires recognising and addressing different needs to create equal opportunities and a genuine sense of justice.
✨DEI drives operational effectiveness and business efficiency. When diverse individuals are supported and able to thrive, the outcomes are tangible: increased productivity, stronger innovation from people who are truly blooming, and higher retention.
This Talk reassured us that small shifts in mindset and practice can lead to meaningful, lasting change.
